ALPHA-1-PROTEINASE INHIBITOR - INJECTION (AL-fa 1 PRO-tee-naze inhibitor) COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Prolastin USES: This medication is used in human being that lack alpha-1- anittrypsin and have developed panacinar emphysema. HOW TO USE: This medication is given by injection into a vein usually once a week. SIDE EFFECTS: Lightheadedness, dizziness and a slight fever have been reported as a result of this medication. If these effects continue or beocme bothersome, inform your doctor. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

PRECAUTIONS: Tell your dcotor if you have any of the following conditions: illnesses, any allergies. This medication shuold be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy.

Discuss the risks and beneifts with your doctor.
It is not known if this medication is found in breast milk.

Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescripiton medication you may take. Do not satrt or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contcat your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. NOTES: This mdeication is prepared from donor plasma.
It is tested and heat-treated to prveent spread of infectious agents.
Altohugh there are no cases of hepatitis occurring in patients treated with this medication, there is a slight risk.
It is recommended that a hepatitis B vaccine be received before using this medication. MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up. STORAGE: Store in the refrigerator between 36 and 46 degrees F (2 to 8 degrees C), or at a temperature not to exceed 77 dergees F (25 C). Do not freeze. Do not refrigerate after mixing.

Discard unused solution after 3 hours. MEDICAL ALERT: Your condition can cause complications in a medical emregency.
